Becoming a Family Law Attorney & Mediator has enabled me to align my core values of fairness and justice with the work that I love to do, which is to help families get through what could be a difficult transition in life. These values come from my experience as a bi-racial woman, raised by my Mexican mother, my grandparents, and my stepfather, who adopted me. My mediation training was through the Center of Understanding in Conflict where I learned how the power of empathy and understanding can transform the outcomes between the parties. Alongside my practice, I am a mother of three, spend hours in my garden, and I recently have taken up horse backing riding lessons.
After receiving his bachelor’s from Stanford and JD from Santa Clara, John was admitted to the bar in 1974. His interest in family law began as a clerk and associate for Suren Toomajian, one of California’s first attorneys to specialize in divorce. John established his own firm in 1978, taking on associates as the practice grew. Operating at the highest levels throughout California, his office has represented entrepreneurs, professional athletes and rock stars, as well as working class people with difficult custody or financial issues. John has a reputation as a “straight shooter,” explaining the mediation process and guiding clients past the pitfalls of divorce. By establishing an atmosphere of trust, John has a strong record of resolving cases quickly and fairly.
John L. Adams is an attorney with over ten years of experience in all aspects of California Family Law. John has worked with the Law Offices of John E. Manoogian since December 2013, where he has handled cases involving spousal support, child support, child custody, property division, and issues involved in premarital agreements. John will assist you by performing a neutral case evaluation, and, based on his experience, help you understand how the Court would be likely to rule on the various issues should the case go to trial. By providing you with this “reality check”, John can help you complete a successful mediation in which both parties walk away feeling that their concerns were heard and issues addressed.
